Since 2006, the Great Mind Awards have celebrated leaders across the advertising and marketing research industry. These awards shine a light on rising stars, research innovators, data-driven marketers and industry legends.
The 2022 Great Mind Awards entry period has closed.
AWARD CATEGORIES
The ARF will be awarding honors in five categories:
- Erwin Ephron Demystification Award
Winners of this esteemed lifetime achievement award are accomplished communicators and have the highest level of business acumen, especially in the realm of media and research.
- Chief Marketing Officer Award
Rewards a C-suite leader who has embraced research, insights, and data analytics to drive growth, brand value, and/or better consumer experience.
- Future Forward Award
For achievement in using innovation to unlock insights about consumer or business trends.
- Young Pro of the Year Award
In recognition of an outstanding ARF Young Pro who has shown exceptional leadership, important contributions and potential for future industry impact.
- Journal of Advertising Research (JAR) Award
In recognition of the best JAR papers of 2021 – both academic and practitioner – and editorial board members who made excellent contributions to the quality of peer-reviewed papers.

VIRTUAL: “Conversations with Great Minds” will feature interviews with the Erwin Ephron Demystification Award winner and CMO Award winner on August 3, 2022. This event will present details of their career impact and how their work is moving the industry forward.
PAST WINNERS
The 2020 and 2021 virtual programs, “Conversations with Great Minds,” celebrated four impressive award-winners.
2021
Alice K. Sylvester, Partner at Sequent Partners, winner of the 2021 Erwin Ephron Demystification Award, was interviewed by Ad Age Editor at Large, Jack Neff.
Alvaro Luque, CEO & President of Avocados from Mexico (AFM) and winner of the Chief Marketing Officer Award, was interviewed by Kristina Monllos, Marketing Editor at Digiday.
2021 winners were also featured during various events throughout the year.
2020
Josh Chasin, Chief Measurability Officer at VideoAmp, winner of the 2020 Erwin Ephron Demystification Award, was interviewed by the 2019 winner of the same award, Leslie Wood, Ph.D., Chief Research Officer at NCSolutions.
Greg Lyons, CMO of PepsiCo Beverages NA, and winner of the first-ever Chief Marketing Officer Award, was interviewed by Gregg Lindner, President of the Americas, at GfK MRI-Simmons.
2020 winners were also featured during various events throughout August 2020.
